My dad passed away in 2019 from a heart condition. Due to my tribe’s (Luiya) culture, my mother was not allowed to be around during the grieving process since she and my dad were not married. She returned to her parents. I was left with my grandmother. Not long after that my grandmother also passed away. So my aunt took me in. However it caused a problem because no one else in the family approved of me being around so she took me back to my mother. However, my mother is also unable to care for me. I have nowhere to go. I’m thankful for a safe place to live at the children’s home.
